Make them to be numbered with thy saints in glory everlasting.
O Lord, save thy people, and bless thine heritage.
Govern them and lift them up for ever.  -- Te Deum

The 13th Annual Memorial Concert & Vespers

November 7th, 2010 6:30 p.m.

Holy Trinity Catholic Church Sanctuary

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this year's Memorial Concert! We hope you enjoyed the music as much as we loved singing it.

The 2010 Holy Trinity Memorial Concert Choir

Each fall, as close as possible to All Soul's Day, the choir honors and remembers departed friends and family by performing a memorial concert. With orchestral accompaniment, we present a major choral work that focuses on our Christian belief in a glorious afterlife with God and the comfort that He provides to those left behind. This year's piece, Handel's Dettingen Te Deum, "contains plenty of ceremonial choruses in D major and brilliant trumpets, but no two movements are exactly alike; this music is a roller-coaster that plunges the listener through meticulously crafted contrasts, and it bears the hallmark of the composer’s characteristic versatility"* The text of the Te Deum, declares our belief in the Trinity, tells of those in heaven and on earth who praise God, and asks for God's mercy and eternal life. In addition to the music, there will be, as always, a scripture reading and psalm and one of the priests of the Holy Trinity Parish will open and close the concert with short prayers for healing and comfort. Last year the choir sang Mozart's famous Requiem Mass and the 2008 concert also featured works by Mozart. 2007's concert theme was Eternal Light and featured Morten Lauridsen's beautiful Lux Aeterna. We've also sung works by Schubert, Cherubini and Handel, just to name a few.

As part of the ceremony, we spend several weeks in the fall collecting the names of people you wish to remember to be published in the program. At the concert, we light candles in honor of each person and offer our music and our prayers with them in mind.
