Memorial Concert 2011

Holy Trinity Catholic Church announces the 14th Annual Memorial Concert to celebrate All Saints and All Souls Day on Sunday November 6 at 6:30 p.m. The choral concert and moving candlelight ceremony honors the souls of the dead through prayer and song. This year’s presentation is selections from George Frideric Handel’s Messiah. “Most of us are familiar with Part I, the prophecy and birth of Jesus Christ.  This performance will certainly include some of those choruses, but the main focus of this concert will concentrate on Part II, the passion.  There are so many beautiful arias and choruses that we never hear because most Messiah performances are done in the Christmas season.”  The Holy Trinity volunteer sanctuary choir will be accompanied by a professional orchestra and joined by soloists under the direction of Jay Terpstra, Director of Music and Organist at Holy Trinity.

“This concert is one of our lasting traditions in our one hundred year old parish,” says Terpstra. “This is our way of giving back to the community here in the Oak Lawn area, who have seen Holy Trinity grow into such a diverse representation of Dallas over the past century.” Community members and parishioners are welcome to submit names of deceased loved ones to be printed in the concert program. candles will be lit as a representation of the souls of those honored. Choir members will be available to take names and donations on the patio after mass on weekends in October. You may also submit names by printing out our donation form and mailing it to the church office.

As always, the concert will open with a prayer and welcome from a Holy Trinity priest since this is a chance for contemplation and remembrance as well as a performance. Please join us for this unique choral experience.
